What we're about

More than just a swim.

We're Melbourne's friendliest clothes-free swim community — a genuine social space, free from judgement, where people of all ages and body types connect over a shared love of freedom in the water.

Body acceptance

Clothes-free swimming is one of the most powerful ways to make peace with your body. Surrounded by real people with real bodies, self-consciousness simply fades. No comparison, no performance — just you.

Genuine community

Since 1980, we've been bringing people together for monthly swim nights in Melbourne's southeast. Our members come from all walks of life, united by curiosity, openness, and the simple joy of getting in the pool.

Safe & respectful

Zero tolerance for staring, sexual behaviour, or harassment — enforced, not just stated. Our code of conduct is what makes this space genuinely safe, especially for women and first-timers coming alone.

The benefits

Why clothes-free?

Beyond the obvious joy of skinny dipping, there's a growing body of evidence — and plenty of lived experience — for why swimming without clothes is genuinely good for you.

01

Body confidence

Regular clothes-free socialising is consistently linked to improved body image and reduced self-criticism, regardless of age or size.

02

Freedom & joy

Swimming without the drag of fabric brings a lightness and playfulness that's hard to describe — but you'll know it the moment you're in.

03

Mental wellbeing

Combining swimming, social connection, and dropping your armour for a few hours is genuinely restorative. Members consistently leave feeling lighter.

04

Real connection

No status symbols, no hiding — something about authentic presence makes the conversations here unusually warm and real.

05

Vitamin D

More skin, more sunlight absorption. Not the main reason people come, but a welcome bonus on warm Melbourne evenings.

06

Zero judgement

All ages, all shapes, all bodies. Our community actively practises non-judgement. After five minutes, you won't remember what you were worried about.

New here?

What to expect on your first visit

Nervous is completely normal — everyone was new once. Here's exactly what happens so there are no surprises.

1

Drop us a quick line

Send us a quick email or text before your first visit. We'll answer any questions, share the exact venue address, and make sure someone is at the door to welcome you. It's our way of keeping the space private and secure for everyone.

2

Arrive & check in

You'll be warmly welcomed at the door. The changing rooms are standard sports-facility facilities. There's no rush and no pressure.

3

Take your time

A towel is your best friend. Women are welcome to wear bikini bottoms on their first visit — or any visit they need to. Nobody is watching or judging. The vibe is relaxed and friendly.

4

Get in the water

Once you're in, it's just swimming. Seriously — within five minutes you'll wonder what you were worried about. The attention is on fun and conversation, not bodies.

5

Stay for supper

The bring-and-share supper after the swim is where the best conversations happen. Bring something to share, grab a tea or coffee, and meet the community properly.

No photography — ever

Photography and video are strictly prohibited at all times, including phones. This rule is absolute and actively enforced. It's a big part of what makes this space genuinely safe for everyone.

Questions

Honest answers to the questions everyone Googles

We know what you're wondering. Here are the real answers.

Do I really have to be completely naked?
Generally yes — that's what creates the level playing field that makes everything work. However, we're not rigid about it. Women are welcome to wear bikini bottoms on their first visit, during menstruation, or whenever they feel they need to. We care about your comfort above all else.
I'm nervous about my body. Will people judge me?
This is the most common concern, and it's almost universally resolved within the first five minutes of being in the water. You'll see bodies of every shape, age, and size. Our members genuinely don't judge — not just as a rule, but as a value. Many people say it was the most body-accepting space they'd ever been in.
Is this sexual?
Absolutely not. This is a social, non-sexual environment. Any sexual behaviour, unwanted touching, or harassment results in immediate removal and a permanent ban. The code of conduct is enforced — not just printed. Couples and women attend regularly because the space genuinely earns that trust.
Is it safe as a woman? Will men stare?
We take this seriously. Staring and unwanted attention are grounds for removal — just like any other harassment. Women make up a meaningful part of our community, and that only happens when a space is actually safe. If you're uncomfortable at any point, speak to a coordinator immediately. We will act. Coming with a friend for your first visit is always a great idea.
Can I bring a partner or friend?
Yes — we actively encourage it. Couples are very welcome, and bringing a friend for your first visit can make the whole thing so much easier. Just mention it when you get in touch so we can expect you both.
What if I get aroused?
It's a human body — it occasionally happens, especially to male first-timers. The protocol is simple: get in the water, think about something mundane, and it passes quickly. Anyone who draws attention to it is the one with the problem. The community handles this matter-of-factly, without drama or embarrassment.
What if I'm on my period?
You can absolutely swim — a menstrual cup or tampon works fine. Women are also welcome to wear bikini bottoms if they prefer. Either way, you're completely welcome.
How do I become a member?
Membership is available after you've attended at least 3 swims within 12 months and shown you're a good fit for the community. Membership halves your entry fee from $20 to $10 per night. Annual membership is $40 — same price whether you're single or a couple.
